The Lok Sabha on Wednesday (August 12, 2026) passed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill 2026 without debate via a voice vote.

Shortly after it was introduced, the Opposition MPs poured into the Well of the House amid heavy sloganeering and protests.

Chair Jagdambika Pal proceeded to passing the Bill without debate, and reprimanded the Opposition for not willing to participate in legislative business.
