Life of a Phallus, Winter’s Night to be Malayalam films in IFFK competition

Life of a Phallus, directed by Unnikrishnan Avala, and If on a Winter’s Night (Khidki Gaav), directed by Sanju Surendran, have been chosen as the Malayalam films in the International Competition section for the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), to be held in December this year.

A committee headed by filmmaker and producer P.T. Kunju Muhammed and consisting of screenwriter Cheriyan Kalpakavadi, filmmakers Shanavas Bavakutty and Asha Achy Joseph and critic Jithin K.C. also chose the 12 films that would be part of the Malayalam Cinema Today section.

The films to be screened under the section are Ebb directed by Jeo Baby, Samastha Loka by Sherry Govindan, Aditya Baby’s Ambrosia, Nipin Narayanan’s Kaathiripp, Rajesh Madhavan’s Pennum Porattum, Rinoshun K.’s Shavappetti, Mini I.G.’s Aadi Snehathinte Virunnu Mesha, Sheshipp directed by Sreejith S. Kumar and Gritto Vincent, K. Sreekumar’s Anyarude Aakashangal, Arun Vardhan’s Oru Apasarppaka Katha, Fazil Razak’s Moham, and Vishnu B. Beena’s Chaavu Kalyanam. Nine of the 14 Malayalam films selected for the festival are by debutants.
