Left parties staged a demonstration at the Gandhi statue near the GVMC headquarters on Friday, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and the cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. CPI(M) State secretariat member A.V. Nageswara Rao and CPI district secretary S.K. Rehman alleged that eligible voters has been illegally removed from electoral rolls and demanded their inclusion. They alleged that the SIR, which began in Bihar in June 2025, had been extended to 30 States and Union Territories. The leaders also demanded changes to the system for appointing Election Commissioners and restoration of the Election Commission’s functioning.
