The Kudumbashree will organise more than 2,000 Onam fairs across the State to ensure a wider market for products manufactured by its women entrepreneurs.

The fairs will be held from August 20 to 25. The State-level inauguration of the Onam fairs will be held at Alappuzha. Fairs will also be organised in the other 13 districts. Two fairs will also be held in each community development society (CDS) of the Kudumbashree.

Nearly 50,000 entrepreneurs will take part in the fairs, being organised to provide a wider market for local products and increase the income of entrepreneurs and neighbourhood groups.

Last year, the turnover from sale of products made by agro microenterprises and the sale of Onasadya and Onam kits was₹50.8 crore. The Kudumbashree hopes to surpass it this time.

The Kudumbashree has prepared detailed guidelines to make available quality products to consumers at fair prices and ensure transparency in prices.

Food products made by microenterprises and enterprises in the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors; handicrafts; apparel; value-added products; millets grown by women farmers from Attappady as well as value-added products made by them from sweet potato; products made by tribal women from Idukki; vegetables, fruits, and flowers cultivated as part of Onakkani and Nirappolima schemes will be available at the fairs.

Products will also be available through the Kudumbashree’s Pocket Mart e-commerce app.
