The 64th Kozhikode Revenue District School Arts Festival drew to a close at Koyilandy on Friday (November 28), with the Kozhikode city sub-district clinching the overall championship and Silver Hills Higher Secondary School retaining its position at the top.

The five-day festival was held across 22 venues in Koyilandy town. Around 13,000 students from government and aided schools under 17 sub-districts competed in 319 events across the Upper Primary, High School and Higher Secondary categories. The Sanskrit and Arabic arts festivals were also organised alongside the main event.

Despite recurring allegations of faulty judgment, nepotism and protests by contestants, the festival drew an enthusiastic public response. Drama competitions, Oppana and group dance events remained crowd favourites.

Kozhikode city sub-district secured 1,000 points (as updated at 9 p.m.) to lift the overall trophy, followed by Chevayur sub-district with 910 points and Thodannur sub-district with 904 points.

Silver Hills Higher Secondary School, which contributed 428 points to the Chevayur sub-district tally, continued its remarkable run as the highest-scoring school. Its students earned A grades in all 90 events they participated in, qualifying for the State school arts festival in nearly 30 items. Memunda HSS of Thodannur sub-district came second with 353 points, while Perambra HSS finished third with 247 points.
