Kiran Shaw ranked 2nd most generous woman by Hurun India

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, founder and Chairperson of Biocon Group, has been ranked among India’s most generous women philanthropists by EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2025. She has been recognized as the 2nd most generous woman for contributing ₹83 crore for philanthropic causes across Research and Development.

“I have always believed that investing in science, research, and innovation can unlock transformative solutions for humanity. Through my philanthropic initiatives, I remain committed to nurturing ideas and institutions that can change the world for the better, and help build a more equitable and inclusive future,” said Ms. Shaw.

For her, philanthropy has never been about the magnitude of giving, but was about giving with a purpose. “A purpose to create lasting impact and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives and in society,” she added.
