The State government has decided to implement the Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme (AEDP) of the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT), under the Union Ministry of Education, to enhance the employability and practical skills of final-semester students in higher education institutions in Keralam.

Higher Education Minister Roji M. John announced that the scheme, which will be launched from the present academic year, will provide undergraduate students in arts, science and commerce with an opportunity to undergo six months of practical industrial training, or on-the-job training, along with their studies.

Students undergoing the training will receive a monthly stipend. The total stipend has been fixed at ₹10,900 for undergraduate students and ₹9,600 for diploma holders.
