Outgoing Kerala Chief Minister and Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday (May 9, 2026) congratulated C. Joseph Vijay on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Vijayan expressed hope that the trust the people of Tamil Nadu have reposed in Mr. Vijay will translate into a government that upholds the values of social justice, secularism and people’s welfare.

“Kerala and Tamil Nadu are States that share long-standing friendship and cooperation. I believe that the people of both the States can work together to strengthen the federal system and preserve secularism,” he wrote in the congratulatory message to Mr. Vijay.
