The Kerala local body polls will reflect the strong anti-incumbency sentiments of the people, A.K. Antony, former Chief Minister and Union Defence Minister, has said.

Speaking to the media after casting his vote on Tuesday, he said that “even Left-leaning voters are wishing for a shock treatment to the Left.”

“People are fed up because of the increase in utility charges and the rise in prices. Their daily lives have become difficult in all respects and they are yearning for change in government. The United Democratic Front is the only alliance which is capable of effecting this change. As far as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is concerned, its vote share will fall in this elections,” he said.

Regarding the rape allegations against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, he said that no other political party or organisation has taken such “a laudable stand” of ousting an MLA over such allegations.
