One of the significant allocations in the State Budget 2026-27 in the arts and culture sector is the increase in outlay for the government scheme that provides assistance to women filmmakers for the production of feature films from ₹1.5 crore to ₹7 crore.
This is part of the ₹24 crore earmarked for the activities of Kerala State Film Development Corporation. Over the past five years, more than five acclaimed films have been produced under the scheme which gave a much needed gateway to the film industry for women aspiring to be filmmakers.

The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy gets an allocation of ₹16 crore. An amount of ₹13 crore is earmarked for the various activities of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy, while ₹7.5 crore is earmarked for Kerala Lalithakala Academy. The Kerala Kalamandalam gets an allocation of ₹27.5 crore.
