
V.D. Satheesan

The Paravur Assembly constituency stood with the United Democratic Front (UDF) once again as its candidate V.D. Satheesan secured his sixth straight win in one of the keenly watched contest in the Assembly elections.
Mr. Satheesan won by a margin of 20,600 votes as he secured 78,658 votes. E.T. Taison of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), who managed to secure a slender lead till the third round of counting, won 58,058 votes. Valsala Prasannakumar, former Congress chairperson of North Paravur municipality who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the elections, ended up third with 20,377 votes. Mr. Satheesan had won the constituency with a margin of 21,301 votes amid the Left wave in 2021 against M.T. Nixon of the LDF, who won 60,963 votes. It was in 2001 that the Congress leader won the segment for the first time after he defeated P. Raju of the Communist Party of India by a margin of 7,434 votes.
