The State Government has appointed K.R. Sunil as the Special Government Pleader for Devaswom matters before the Kerala High Court.

Mr. Sunil has served as a standing counsel for the Centre, the Malabar Devaswom Board, and the Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority, among other departments. He is also the State General Secretary of the Indian Lawyers Congress.

Recently, the previous Special Government Pleader for Devaswom had stepped down amidst allegations that he had represented Smart Creations, a Chennai-based firm reportedly involved in the Sabarimala Gold Theft Scam. K.B. Pradeep had been appointed as Special Government Pleader on June 11, 2026, and had to resign two days later, on June 13, 2026.
