Verification of guest identities, maintenance of visitor records and installation of CCTV cameras were among the key points discussed at a meeting convened by the Hyderabad police with hotel and lodge owners under the North Zone on Wednesday.

The meeting, convened by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) S. Rashmi Perumal, was to ensure that all establishments operate in line with the provisions of the Telangana State Public Safety Act, trade licence regulations and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

It was attended by more than 100 hotel and lodge owners and managers, along with the ACP of Gopalapuram and Station House Officers from across the North Zone.

During the interaction, managements were reminded to maintain a proper visitor register with accurate entries and to submit daily guest details to the local police stations. They were instructed to verify and retain valid identification proofs of all guests at the time of check-in, ensuring their authenticity and availability for police inspection.

The DCP also emphasised the mandatory installation of CCTV cameras with the minimum prescribed backup period under the Public Safety Act.

Owners were further advised to seek permission from the local police before hosting any events, gatherings or training programmes on their premises.

The police cautioned hotel and lodge operators to ensure that their establishments are not misused for unlawful activities such as prostitution, drug peddling or other illegal acts, warning that any negligence in this regard would attract stringent action.

Additionally, managements were advised to enhance on-site security by deploying adequate guards and installing security scanners such as doorframe and handheld metal detectors to strengthen safety measures.
