HYDERABAD

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has stated that it is not possible for him to appear for examination in the phone-tapping case on January 30, as desired by the case investigating officer and ACP of Jubilee Hills P. Venkatagiri and he would be ready for any other date at his Erravalli residence in Markook mandal of Siddipet district.

In a reply sent to the notice served by the IO on Thursday in the case registered in 2024, KCR stated that January 30 being the last date for filing nomination papers for elections to 123 urban local bodies — municipalities (116) and municipal corporations (7) — “I am preoccupied with issuing authorisation to party candidates as the elections are being held on party basis”.

Citing Section 160 of the Cr. P.C. under which the notice was served on him, KCR said he should be examined at the address where he is residing now as per the provisions of the Section and also serve all future notices in the case, if any, be sent to his Erravalli address. As the former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly now he would fully cooperate with the investigation, he assured.

Meanwhile, party leaders K.T. Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao and a few others and legal experts were closeted with KCR at his Erravelli residence after the notice was served by the police. The SIT has already examined BRS leaders T. Harish Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, J. Satosh Rao, several former police officers and others in teh case.
