Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has alleged that the estimated cost of Warangal super-speciality hospital building has been inflated from ₹1,100 crore to ₹1,700 crore only to benefit a benami company allegedly linked to BRS Siddipet MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao.
She demanded that the government take action against those responsible for the ‘corruption’ and provide facilities to patients visiting the MGM Hospital without any difficulties.
Addressing the ‘Meet the Press’ programme at Press Club in Warangal on Sunday, she questioned why the State government led by A. Revanth Reddy, which has launched a vigilance investigation into the matter, is not taking action against those responsible. She alleged that the government’s negligence has led to flooding in several colonies under the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC).
She criticised the government’s handling of the Bhadrakali lake beautification project, alleging that ₹500 crore had been wasted.
Ms. Kavitha also highlighted the lack of underground drainage in Warangal, despite the city’s status as a Smart City. She demanded that the government complete the underground drainage project and address other infrastructure issues in the city.
The Telangana Jagruthi president also expressed concern over the condition of Kakatiya University (KU), citing the lack of hostel facilities for women. She urged the government to prioritise the university’s development and address the issues faced by students.
She further alleged that the Congress government was not providing adequate funds to MGM Hospital.
