The body of a 26-year-old Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) cadre who died in the Karur stampede was brought to Salem on Sunday (September 28, 2025).
Anand (26), a resident of Sundaraja Colony in Valasaiyur near Veeranam, was a construction worker. He went to participate in the TVK rally in Karur district on Saturday (September 27) evening and died in the stampede.

After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the relatives on Sunday morning who brought it back to his house at Valasaiyur.
Tourism Minister R. Rajendran, Rajya Sabha MP S.R. Sivalingam and TVK functionaries paid their last respects and consoled the family members of the deceased.
