The Jnana Bharathi police have registered a case of dowry harassment and cruelty against Kannada filmmaker S. Narayan, his wife Bhagyalakshmi, and their son Pavan.

According to a complaint by Pavithra, wife of Pavan, they got married in 2021, and at that time, Pavan was unemployed so she used to take care of the household expenses and even gifted him a car.

Allegedly, Pavan later sought funds to start a film institute, Kala Samrat Team Academy. Pavithra’s mother reportedly financed the venture, which was later shut down due to losses.

As per the complaint, at the time of marriage, Pavithra’s family gave a ring worth ₹1 lakh and bore the wedding expenses. She even borrowed a loan and paid them ₹10 lakh to support Pavan and his family for a business, the complainant mentioned in the complaint.

Despite this, Narayan’s family demanded money and harassed her, forcing her out of the house with her minor son, she said in the complaint.

Pavithra stayed with her mother and tried to get back to their house many times, but in vain, so she approached the police, the complaint said.
