After nearly two decades of efforts, noted sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman has completed a memorial sculpture dedicated to endosulfan victims on the Kasaragod district panchayat office premises, marking a significant artistic and humanitarian milestone.
The installation, titled Ammayum and Kunjum (Mother and Child), portrays the suffering of children affected by endosulfan exposure. The central motif features two children with enlarged heads and limbs embracing their distressed mother, symbolising the deep physical and emotional trauma endured by the victims. The district panchayat has described the work as a gesture of solace in response to the tragedy linked to policy failure involving the State government and plantation authorities.
