Kakatiya University Pharma faculty lauded for bringing global recognition to department

Director of Aurobindo Pharma M. Madan Mohan Reddy observed that the true strength of a college lies not in its infrastructure but in the quality of teaching and the creativity of its students. He lauded the Pharmacy Department of Kakatiya University’s research contributions to the pharmaceutical sector.

Addressing the inaugural event of the two-day Golden Jubilee celebrations of Kakatiya University’s College of Pharmacy at Kaloji Kalakshetram, Hanamkonda, on Saturday, Mr. Reddy praised the pioneering faculty who laid the foundation for the department. He encouraged students to explore the vast opportunities in the pharmacy sector, noting that KU alumni have made their mark globally. Discussing industry trends, Mr. Reddy noted that India’s pharmaceutical sector ranks among the largest globally, with many patents set to expire by 2034. He predicted that generic medicines would dominate the market, positioning India as a leader in affordable healthcare alongside China and Europe. He assured that Aurobindo Pharma is ready to offer internships and training to KU students and stressed the need for stronger industry-academia collaboration over the next 50 years.

Former KU student and ex-director of the U.S. FDA Mansoor Khan, recalled the humble beginnings of the college with limited facilities. He credited disciplined teachers and peer support for shaping successful careers, adding that challenges were turned into opportunities through vision and perseverance. Kakatiya University (KU) Vice-Chancellor K. Pratap Reddy hailed the College of Pharmacy as a torchbearer for the university, citing its world-class research and alumni network. He noted that the college has produced 3,000 B.Pharm graduates, 1,800 M.Pharm postgraduates, 400 Ph.D. scholars, and over 3,000 research papers, showcasing its global impact.
