HYDERABAD

Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao has termed the byelection for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency an event to decide the future of four crore people of Telangana and not just four lakh voters.

Speaking at a ‘Meet-the-Press’ programme, organised by the Press Club in Hyderabad on Friday, he said that people were waiting for the result to change their fortunes, by teaching a fitting lesson to the Congress Government that had failed to keep all the promises, except a few, made before the 2023 Assembly elections.

He said no section of people was happy by the A. Revanth Reddy rule, but the CM’s brothers.

Alleging that the Revanth Reddy Government was blackmailing realtors and business community, Mr. Harish Rao said that the Congress Government is only engaged in destroying the State, while the previous BRS Government had worked for its progress. He accused the government of resorting to vigilance raids on colleges for demanding the release of fee reimbursement dues.

Unable to explain what they did during the last 23 months, the ruling party leaders were blackmailing the people of Jubilee Hills too, stating that even the welfare schemes being implemented would be discontinued if the Congress lost the byelection, he said. Mr. Harish Rao cited the ruling party’s ‘failure’ in the Cantonment constituency after winning that byelection in early 2024.

Stating that crime rate in Telangana had increased by 22% after the Congress took over the administration, the BRS leader said investments were making a flight from the State and the realty sector was in deep slump. He alleged that demolition of homes of the poor, increased drug menace, flight of investments and increased crime rate had become the hallmarks of Congress rule.
