Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K. Mani on Wednesday (January 14, 2026) dismissed speculations about the party shifting its alliance to the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala.

Speaking to the media in Kottayam, Mr. Mani reaffirmed that the party remains firmly committed to the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and stressed that “there is no need for concern for anyone outside” over the KC(M)’s position.

“We have been receiving invitations from many quarters but we are very happy staying with the LDF. Moreover, there is no need to explain our stance every day,” he said.

Mr. Mani emphasised that “wherever KC(M) holds sway, power remains with it” and the party stands fully united.

“There are clear reasons why I did not attend the recent Left front meetings, and both the Chief Minister and the party leadership are aware of them. Stephen George, as the party’s general secretary, has attended each of these meetings on our behalf. After all, the chairman cannot be present at every single meeting,” explained Mr. Mani, who just returned from Dubai.

He also criticised the media for “creating misleading narratives” and firmly dismissed reports of a rift between him and Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine regarding the alliance. “Roshy and I share a strong relationship. We discuss matters openly and any statements he makes are done after consulting with me,” he said.

Mr. Mani also clarified that he would lead the LDF’s rally in the central Kerala region.
