The Madras High Court, on Thursday (April 30, 2026), dismissed an anticipatory bail plea filed by one of the accused in a criminal case booked against many individuals pursuant to the leak of actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay’s much-awaited last movie Jana Nayaganon online platforms and the social media.

Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan refused to grant the relief after Additional Public Prosecutor K.M.D. Muhilan brought it to the notice of the court that the petitioner D. Uma Shankar (41), a resident of Tiruverkadu in Tiruvallur district, had played an active role in the illegal dissemination of the unreleased movie on social media.
