Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s much-awaited film, Jana Nayagan, has finally locked its worldwide release date. After weeks of speculation surrounding its theatrical release, the makers have officially confirmed when the Tamil action drama will hit the big screen.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Thalapathy Vijay announced the worldwide release date of Jana Nayagan, confirming that the film will hit theatres on July 23, 2026.
Jana Nayagan finally gets a release date
Sharing the new poster from Jana Nayagan to announce the film’s release date. In the caption, the actor-politician simply wrote the hashtag, “#JanaNayaganFromJuly23.” In the release-date poster, the makers cleverly incorporated the release date, July 23, 2026, into the design. The poster features Vijay in a commanding avatar, dressed in a khaki police uniform that exudes authority and power.
The poster credits him as “The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay” instead of his usual screen name. It also confirms that the film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Fans and celebrities react to Jana Nayagan release date announcement
As soon as the poster was unveiled, fans and several celebrities flooded the comments section, expressing their excitement for Vijay’s final film. Actor Sibi Sathyaraj commented, “We are coming,” while director Atlee showed his support by liking the post.
Jana Nayagan gets an ‘A’ certificate in India
Last week, the makers revealed that Jana Nayagan had received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). KVN Productions shared the announcement on social media, writing, “See you soon in theatres nanba & nanbis. #JanaNayaganCensoredA.”
Why was Jana Nayagan delayed before its July 23 release?
For the unversed, Jana Nayagan also marks Vijay’s final film before he fully transitions into politics. The film was initially slated for release on January 9, 2026, but was delayed due to certification-related issues. After a seven-month wait, the film finally received its Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) censor certificate, paving the way for its theatrical release on July 23, 2026.
Jana Nayagan: Cast and crew details
Apart from Thalapathy Vijay, the film features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, and Gautham Vasudev in key roles. The film is directed by H Vinoth and produced by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions.
