External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit the United States from Monday (February 2, 2026) to Wednesday (February 4, 2026), to participate in the critical minerals ministerial convened by U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

The ministerial, held by the U.S. will focus on supply chain resilience, clean energy transitions, and strategic cooperation in critical minerals.

During the visit, the External Affairs Minister will also hold meetings with senior members of the U.S. administration.

Earlier on Thursday (January 29, 2026), , Mr. Jaishankar held talks with U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor, focusing on key dimensions of bilateral ties, including in areas such as trade, critical minerals and defence.

He is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio amid indications that both sides are making fresh attempts to conclude a proposed trade deal.

The U.S. ambassador had said he and Mr. Jaishankar had a “highly substantive discussion that covered everything from defence, trade, critical minerals, and working towards our common interests”. “Stay tuned for much more!” Mr. Gor, who assumed office earlier this month, said on social media.
