It is essential to foster an environment that allows individuals to correct their missteps, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J. Chinchurani has said.

She was speaking at the valedictory session of the jail welfare day celebrations held at the Kollam district jail on Tuesday. Highlighting the need to utilise imprisonment as an opportunity for mental transformation, she said jails function as correctional centres, enabling individuals to move away from criminal activity and successfully reintegrate into mainstream society.

M. Noushad, MLA, presided over the function and District Information Officer L. Hemanth Kumar distributed the prizes to the winners of the arts and sports competitions. Deputy Excise Commissioner M. Noushad, Regional Transport Officer K. Ajith Kumar, Deputy DMO Sreehari and district jail superintendent V.R. Sharath also spoke on the occasion.
