A male jaguar named as Kusha died at Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park (SVZP) in Tirupati on Tuesday (October 7, 2025). The fifteen-year-old male animal sustained grievous injury while climbing a tree within its enclosure.
Notwithstanding the attempts made by the veterinary staff, Kusha breathed his last. Experts from Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) conducted post-mortem on the animal which confirmed the cause of death as hypervolemic shock and asphyxia caused when animal got enmeshed in the tree branches. The zoo staff gave a warm farewell when Kusha was buried within the zoo premises.
