The defeat of the Women’s Reservation Bill invited criticism from the BJP, while the Congress and the BRS blamed the BJP with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy describing the coming together of opposition parties to stall controversial legislations as a “red-letter day” in Indian history.

In a post on social media, the Chief Minister lauded the leadership of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, for uniting democratic forces and opposition leaders to “avert a national disaster.”
