The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate showers and isolated heavy rain in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema till October 21, due to the persisting upper air cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining southern Andhra Pradesh.

A trough runs from Lakshadweep to west-central Bay of Bengal across Karnataka and southern Andhra Pradesh. The prevailing weather systems may bring light to moderate showers in the districts of Polavaram, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Annamayya, and Chittoor on Monday.

Thunderstorms are also likely to occur at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Strong winds, with speed reaching 50 kmph, are likely at isolated places over coastal A.P. and Rayaseelama, the IMD said.

On Sunday, while an orange alert was in place till noon, the State recorded only moderate showers. Between 8.30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Korisapadu in Prakasam district recorded the day’s highest rain of 36 mm, followed by Venkatagiri in Tirupati (30.34 mm), Tangutoor in Nandyal (26.97 mm), Chintha Kommadinne in YSR Kadapa (26.77 mm), Jagadurthi in Nandyal (26.46 mm), Madhur in Nandyal (26.23 mm), Dabbagunta in SPSR Nellore (22 mm), Pusulur in Nandyal (21.11 mm).
