A court on Tuesday (April 7, 2026), granted five days’ police custody of six accused arrested on a charge of maintaining contacts with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), a police officer told The Hindu. The custody is from April 9 to 13.

The Two Town police of the NTR Commissionerate had in March arrested 12 persons, including a minor, for allegedly having links with the ISIS and al-Qaeda in the AQIS.

The accused had allegedly planned to spread the ideology of ISIS and AQIS, recruit members, and establish a caliphate in India. The handler, who kept in touch through social media, had promised to supply them with weapons, police told The Hindu earlier this week.

The court had earlier granted five days’ police custody of five other accused in the same case.
