District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore on Thursday (June 11, 2026) appealed to people to participate in large numbers in the Yogandhra programmes being organised across the district and make the International Day of Yoga celebrations at RK Beach on June 21 (Sunday) a success.

A yoga session was conducted at the Naval Dockyard as part of the Yogandhra initiative being organised in the run-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga. The programme was jointly organised by the Eastern Naval Command, the district administration and the AYUSH Department.

Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Susheel Menon, District Collector M. Abhishikth and Joint Collector G. Vidyadhari inaugurated the programme. Andhra University Assistant Professor T. Tulasi Rao and members of the AYUSH team led the yoga demonstrations.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Abhishikth Kishore said a series of yoga programmes was being organised at various locations ahead of the International Day of Yoga. He said a session would be held at Rushikonda Beach on June 12 and another at the Mudasarlova Golf Course on June 15, culminating in the district-level celebrations at RK Beach on June 21.

The Collector urged people to make yoga a part of their daily routine for better physical and mental well-being and called for greater awareness of its benefits.

Among those present were RDO Akhil Surya Teja, retired Wing Commander P. C. Sekhar, AYUSH Regional Deputy Director Srinivasulu, nodal officer Chandrasekhar, Naval officers, district officials, ex-servicemen, employees and students.
