Calling upon engineering graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers, Odisha Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu urged students to leverage emerging technologies and innovation to contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Dr. Hari Babu was addressing the Graduation Day ceremony at RVR & JC College of Engineering in Guntur on Saturday.

The Governor said engineering education nurtures scientific temper and logical thinking, enabling students to bring about meaningful transformation in society. He encouraged graduates to continuously update their knowledge in line with rapid technological advancements and explore opportunities in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, data science, robotics and quantum technology.

Referring to the semiconductor sector, Dr. Hari Babu said the Central Government provides up to 50% financial support for such projects, while several State governments offer additional incentives ranging from 20-30%. He urged young engineers to utilise these opportunities to build innovative enterprises and create employment.

Highlighting environmental concerns, he advocated a shift from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles, and suggested that educational institutions establish free EV charging stations on campuses to promote cleaner mobility among students.

The Governor also appealed to citizens to support efforts to strengthen the national economy, including by voluntarily postponing non-essential gold purchases for some time.

Acharya Nagarjuna University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kancherla Gangadhara Rao addressed the gathering, urging students to pursue innovation and compete confidently in the global arena.

Rayapati Srinivasa Rao, president of the College, R. Gopalakrishna, secretary, and Kolla Srinivas, principal, participated.
