The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC), Belagavi, observed the 79th Infantry Day here on Monday.

The event was celebrated with solemn pride and reverence, paying heartfelt homage to the valiant soldiers of the Infantry Centre who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.

A wreath-laying ceremony was organised at the Sharqat War Memorial at MLIRC, where Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, Commandant, MLIRC, and Major General Rakesh Manocha, Commander, Junior Leaders Wing, paid floral tributes to the fallen heroes.

The ceremony witnessed the participation of veterans, officers, JCOs and ORs, Junior Leaders Wing and the Station, reaffirming their shared legacy of valour, sacrifice and steadfast devotion to duty.

The event reflected the regiment’s deep respect for its glorious lineage and the indomitable spirit of Infantry soldiers who continue to guard the nation’s frontiers with unmatched courage, resilience and pride.

The observance concluded with a social evening at the Defence Officers Mess and Institute (DOMI), Belagavi, where serving personnel and veterans gathered in camaraderie and remembrance to mark the occasion with dignity and gratitude, said a release.
