Family members of some persons from Karnataka, who are stuck in West Asian countries due to the U.S.-Iran war, are worried.

Among the persons stuck is Mamata Rayareddy, daughter of Basavaraj Rayareddy, MLA and financial advisor to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is stuck in Dubai, UAE. She is in the house of a friend, and is safe.

Mamata had gone to the UAE three days ago to attend the wedding of a friend. She could not return as flights were cancelled.

On March 2, Mr. Rayareddy told reporters in Koppal that he will bring her back once flights resume, and that there is no cause for panic.

Another person who is stuck is Raghavendra Kudri of Kanavalli village in Haveri district. He is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He has appealed to the government of Karnataka to bring him and his family members back to India.

Raghavendra is an engineer. He is based in Abu Dhabi with his wife, son and daughter. He said that a portion of their apartment was damaged by missile strikes, and his bathroom ceiling is leaking. However, the family has not left their apartment. He called his sister’s family in Bengaluru and appealed for help. He told them that he knows of around 100 families from India who are residing in Abu Dhabi. At least five of these families are from Karnataka.

Kuwait residents told to stay indoors

Umar Farooq, a young man from Jalageri in Bagalkot district, works as a driver in Kuwait. He has been living in the Gulf country for three years. He called his family members on March 2 to inform that he is safe. “He told us that his quarters is near a place that was hit by missiles. All his colleagues, and other workers, are in their quarters as the army has advised residents not to leave their place of residence. He has shared some videos of missile attacks,” his relative, Mohammad Jalageri, told reporters in Bagalkot.

50 tourists from Davanagere, Ballari and Chitradurga stuck in Dubai

Prabha Mallikarjun, MP of Davanagere, has appealed to the government to rescue some travellers from Karnataka who are stuck in Dubai. According to her, around 15 persons from Jagalur in Davanagere, and 35 persons from Ballari and Chitradurga, were visiting Dubai. “They were scheduled to board a flight back to India on February 28. But, they could not return due to cancellation of flights,” she told reporters in Davanagere.
