India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reviewed progress made under their Strategic Defence Partnership Framework on Wednesday (June 24, 2026). Discussions focused on expanding defence industry cooperation, fostering innovation, advanced technologies, and strengthening maritime security.

The meeting, held in New Delhi, was co-chaired by Joint Secretary (International Cooperation) Amitabh Prasad and UAE Staff Brigadier Jamal Ebrahim Mohamed Ebrahim Almar-Zooqi.

The discussions come as the UAE shows growing interest in acquiring Indian defence systems.

According to sources in the Ministry of Defence, India is in talks with the Gulf nation to export some of its flagship military platforms, including the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and the Akashteer air defence command-and-control network.

The UAE is assessing options to strengthen its air and missile defence capabilities following attacks on critical installations during the recent conflict in West Asia.

In May this year, India and the UAE signed a pact to establish a framework for their strategic defence partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Abu Dhabi.
