Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and the INDIA bloc’s chief ministerial candidate for the Bihar election Tejashwi Yadav on Monday (October 27, 2025) said the alliance will release its manifesto for the Assembly election on Tuesday (October 28, 2025).

Mr. Yadav said Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will join the election campaign from October 29. Mr. Gandhi, who had earlier led the Voter Adhikar Yatra in the State, will jointly campaign in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga districts, and for votes for other INDIA bloc candidates.

Mr. Yadav said the manifesto will cater to the needs of the youth, farmers, workers, women and senior citizens of Bihar, and lay the way ahead for education, health, and law and order reforms in the State.

While doing a Facebook live, he slammed the Central government and accused it of “telling lies” about running special trains during Chhath. Mr. Yadav said that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw “lied” to the people of Bihar by promising that the railways will operate “12,000 special trains” for Chhath devotees to visit Bihar during the State’s biggest festival. He also played a video in which Mr. Vaishnaw is heard saying about running such trains.

“In the country, the total number of trains is not more than 13,000, and the Minister has promised to run 12,000 special trains. Why do these people tell so many lies? Why have they forced the people of Bihar to return home in crowded trains, treating them as animals? This is not done,” he said.

He also appealed to the devotees to leave Bihar only after casting their votes and “teaching the NDA government a lesson”.

Referring to RJD Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Yadav’s question in the House on the number of people who have migrated from Bihar to other States, Mr. Yadav said, “Sanjay Yadav ji had asked the question in Rajya Sabha about migration from Bihar to other States in search of jobs to the Ministry of Labour and Employment and [it] responded that around 3 crore people have migrated from Bihar. This figure is registered. So, the non-registered [number of migrants] would be more than this figure, roughly around 5 crore people.”

The RJD leader said that it “really pains” him that many people from Bihar “only meet the family members during Chhath”.

“I promise each and every Bihari that vote for us and from next Chhath onwards, all the people will celebrate this festival while remaining with their respective family members,” he said.

On Monday, the RJD also expelled 27 of its leaders for filing election nominations as Independents against INDIA bloc candidates.
