The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and Young Indians (Yi), the youth movement of Confederation of Indian Industry, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote student innovation and early start-up development in Chennai on Thursday.

As part of the collaboration, 18 start-ups underwent a boot camp on deep tech, fundraising, and entrepreneurship at the IIT-Madras Research Park.

They were shortlisted from over 150 entries for the nationwide Bharat Billion Impact Challenge.

At the boot camp, the business models and pitches of the start ups were strengthened under the mentorship of professors from IIT Madras ahead of the national finals.

The top three winners would receive pre-incubation at IIT Madras’ Nirmaan while the others would be supported through ecosystem partners Headstart and Startup Singham.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Tarang Khurana, National Chairman, Yi, and Satyanarayanan Seshadri, Head, School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, IIT Madras.
