The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has launched a Master of Arts (MA) programme in Public Policy and multiple Master of Technology (M. Tech) programmes in emerging technology domains like semiconductors, computational engineering in mechanical systems, and robotics.

The MA programme in Public Policy will be offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, M.Tech in Semiconductor Materials Technology by Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, M.Tech in Robotics by Department of Engineering Design, and M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with specialisation in Computational Engineering in Mechanical Systems by the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The programmes have been designed to equip students with interdisciplinary skills and knowledge to address challenges in the fields of governance, industry, and technology, a press release stated. The MA programme in Public Policy has been designed to provide students with a deep understanding of how governments and institutions design and implement policies to address complex social, economic, and political challenges.

The M.Tech programme in Semiconductors will provide specialised training in semiconductor fundamentals and manufacturing technologies. The M.Tech course in Computational Engineering in Mechanical Systems integrates classic mechanics, advanced numerical methods, machine learning, and high-performance computing to prepare engineers for simulation-driven innovation. The M.Tech in Robotics focusses on design, analysis, and application of advanced robotic systems across industrial and societal contexts.
