IIITDM-Kurnool awards degrees to 250 graduates

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing Kurnool (IIITDM-K) celebrated its eighth convocation on Saturday, conferring degrees on 250 graduating students across undergraduate, postgraduate, dual-degree, and doctoral programmes.

Eminent classical musician and Mridangam maestro Padma Shri Yella Venkateswara Rao was the chief guest, while the convocation was presided over IIITDM-K Chairman of the Board of Governors N.V. Ramana Rao. Director B.S. Murty, presented the ‘Institute Report’ highlighting the institute’s academic, research, infrastructure, and placement achievements during the academic year 2025-26.

Mr. Yella Venkateswara Rao congratulated the graduates and urged them to pursue excellence with discipline, dedication, and perseverance. Drawing upon his distinguished musical career spanning more than six decades, he emphasised the importance of lifelong learning, humility, ethical conduct, and continuous self-improvement.

He encouraged the graduates to use their knowledge and skills for the betterment of society and to contribute meaningfully to nation-building. He remarked that true success lies not only in professional accomplishments but also in serving humanity with integrity and compassion.

Presenting the Institute Report, Mr. Murty noted that IIITDM-K had strengthened its academic ecosystem by introducing interdisciplinary minor programmes in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Robotics, Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Entrepreneurship, with over 65% of students opting to pursue minor specializations.

Highlighting the placement performance, Mr. Murty said that during the 2025-26 placement season, 93 recruiters extended 101 job offers, resulting in an overall placement rate of 77%. The highest annual package offered was ₹65 lakh, while the average package stood at ₹11.68 lakh per annum. Students secured placements in leading organisations such as Microsoft, Amazon, Infosys, Deloitte, IBM, Cashfree Payments, TCS, and several emerging technology companies.

The Director further outlined key infrastructure developments undertaken during the year, including the expansion of boys’ and girls’ hostels, the commissioning of a 500 kWp solar rooftop power plant, and the establishment of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Programs to promote multidisciplinary education, innovation, and industry-oriented research.

Mr. Murty emphasised that earning a degree marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning, innovation, and responsible leadership. He urged the graduates to uphold the values of integrity, excellence, and social responsibility while leveraging technology to develop sustainable solutions to societal challenges.

A total of 250 students received degrees during the convocation. The degrees awarded included 211 B.Tech., 29 M.Tech., one Dual Degree (M.Tech. and Ph.D.), and nine Ph.D. degrees.
