BJP leader and Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Monday (April 13, 2026) said that if the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre were playing petty politics, as had been alleged, it would have allotted the first PM Mitra Park to one of the States ruled by the NDA or the BJP, rather than Tamil Nadu, during a conversation with journalists of The Hindu.

Mr. Goyal rejected the allegation that the proposed delimitation would prove to be disadvantageous to the southern States. He accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his ilk of promoting a false narrative on the issue. “There is a proportional increase across the country. Everybody is back to where they were,” he said, while promising to implement 33 per cent reservation for women by 2029.
