Idukki Collector orders closure of zipline run by M.M. Mani’s brother

Idukki District Collector Dineshan Cheruvatt has issued an order to immediately halt operations at a zipline tourism venture owned by M.M. Lambodaran, brother of former Power Minister and veteran CPI(M) leader M.M. Mani.

​The order follows a case registered by the Adimaly police against Mr. Lambodaran’s wife, Sarojini Lambodaran, who is listed as the official owner of the venture located at Iruttukanam, near Adimaly, along the Kochi–Dhanushkodi National Highway enroute to Munnar.

​In light of severe weather, repeated landslides, and flood warnings, the District Collector had previously issued a strict ban on all adventure and leisure tourism activities across the district until further notice. However, Revenue officials discovered that the firm was operating illegally and accommodating tourists in direct violation of the ban.

​Following an inspection, the Adimaly police intervened, stopped operations, and booked the owner. Revenue authorities subsequently submitted a formal report to the District Collector detailing the violation. Acting on this report, the Collector issued a official stop-memo and directed the District Police Chief and the Devikulam Tehsildar to strictly enforce the shutdown.
