Hyderabad witnessed a return of rainfall on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) afternoon after a three-day dry spell, as several parts of the city were lashed with sharp showers under an overcast sky.

Areas including Ibrahimpatnam, Mallapur, Nacharam, A.S. Rao Nagar and parts of Secunderabad were among the first to record rain. According to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 1 p.m., Saroornagar recorded a rainfall of 6.5 mm followed by 3 mm in Santoshnagar, 2.8 mm in Champapet and 2.8 mm in LB Nagar.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its impact-based forecast issued earlier in the day, had predicted generally cloudy conditions for Hyderabad and surrounding areas. “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, were very likely to occur in the city,” as per the forecast.
