1. Commuter’s metal chain disrupted Namma Metro service at Cubbon Park station: BMRCL

A commuter’s metal chain getting lodged in a train door guideway led to the disruption of Namma Metro service at Cubbon Park station on the Purple Line on the evening of June 25, 2026. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) shared the findings of a preliminary investigation on June 26.

The incident, which occurred between 7.36 p.m. and 7.54 p.m., led to a temporary disruption of Namma Metro services, and resulted in overcrowding at several stations along the Purple Line during the evening peak hours.

BMRCL said that the investigation conducted by its Operations and Maintenance teams revealed that the metal chain got stuck in the train door guideway, preventing the doors from closing properly. As a result, the train could not proceed until the obstruction was removed, disrupting services.

2. Bengaluru triple murder accused Kenneth taken into custody in Puducherry

In a major breakthrough in the sensational K.R. Puram triple murder case, the Bengaluru police took absconding accused, Kenneth, into custody in Puducherry. A 55-year-old man, his wife, and their younger daughter were murdered in an apartment at Seegehalli, under K.R. Puram Police Station limits in east Bengaluru, late on June 22 night.

According to police sources, a team from the K.R. Puram Police Station apprehended Kenneth on June 25 night following sustained technical surveillance and investigation. Police officials said that after the alleged murders, Kenneth and Shweta travelled separately and deliberately parted ways to evade the police, reaching Puducherry separately.

3. No business or any other links with D.K. Shivakumar, own partymen spreading rumours: B.Y. Vijayendra

Denying business or any other links with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, BJP’s Karnataka unit President B.Y. Vijayendra said his own party colleagues have spread “false information.” “If I had links with Mr. Shivakumar, I would be as guilty as some of our MLAs, who have cross-voted in the MLC elections and working against the party,” he told reporters in Dharmasthala on June 26.

“I categorically deny business or any other links with D.K. Shivakumar. The respect that I have given to Mr. Shivakumar is the one given to fellow head of the State unit of a party. I know some of my own party colleagues have spread this information (about his alleged links with Mr. Shivakumar). I have prayed for the well-being of those persons,” he said.

4. BIAL to double F&B and retail outlets at Bengaluru airport in the next five years

Passengers at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will be getting more options to dine and shop at the airport as restaurants, bars and retail outlets are set to double in the next five years with the airport set for expansion.

At present, there are 200 food and beverage (F&B) and retail outlets in the two terminals and kerbside of the KIA, which is south India’s busiest airport. Many iconic international brands along with local ones will be added in the next five years, sources said.
