After unrelenting heat in June, many places in the central region of Andhra Pradesh received moderate to heavy rain on Wednesday (June 10, 2026) night.
Complete details of the rainfall in the city and neighbouring areas are yet to emerge. According to partial information available with the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), between 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday and 8.30 a.m. on Thursday (June 11, 2026), Vijayawada North in NTR district received the highest rainfall of 102 mm, followed by Utukuru in NTR district at 84 mm.

Tadepalli and Tenali in Guntur district recorded 82 mm and 66.75 mm respectively; Garikipalem in Srikakulam district 72.5 mm, and Peda Avutapalle and Machilipatnam in Krishna district 60.5 mm and 50.75 mm respectively. According to NTR district officials, Tiruvuru recorded 109.6 mm in this period, but the DES had not updated this figure.
Many other places in central Andhra Pradesh, especially in Bapatla, Krishna, Guntur, West Godavari and Eluru districts, received moderate rain in the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Thursday. Most of it fell on Wednesday night. A few places in Visakhapatnam district, including Simhachalam and Pendurthi, received light to moderate showers.

According to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, Markapuram and the Rayalaseema region may receive heavy rainfall on Thursday, while the central region may receive moderate rain.

Alluri Sitharama Raju, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam and SPSR Nellore districts, and Polavaram, may receive light showers during the day.
Collector reviews situation
After the heavy rain in Vijayawada and other parts of NTR district, Collector G. Lakshmisha took stock of the situation and directed officials of all departments to remain alert and take precautionary measures at once, in line with the guidelines of the India Meteorological Department and the APSDMA.
The municipal authorities were directed to remove stagnant water from roads, and agriculture officials were asked to ensure that farmers received all support in preventing crop damage.
Low-lying areas near the Pandit Nehru Bus Station, the mango market, NTR Circle, Benz Circle and the Collectorate premises were under a sheet of water. Municipal teams were at work clearing the major junctions.
The Collector advised the public to avoid standing under trees or near electric poles during rain, and to contact local officials to report problems or in an emergency. The command control room at the Collectorate can be reached on 9154970454.
According to figures collated by the district officials, the rainfall recorded in the mandals in the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Thursday was: Tiruvuru 109.6 mm, Vijayawada Rural 95.8 mm, Vijayawada East 92.8 mm, Vijayawada Central and Vijayawada West 92.4 mm each, Vijayawada North 91.8 mm, Reddigudem 90.9 mm, Gampalagudem 84.2 mm, Mylavaram 69 mm and A. Konduru 66.4 mm. Other places in the district received less than 50 mm.
