A Head Constable attached to the city cyber crime police station was suspended after an FIR was filed against him for allegedly stealing ₹11 lakh cash and other valuables from a car belonging to a suspect.

The Vidhana Soudha police have registered an FIR against Zabeeullah Gadiyal based on the complaint filed by the inspector of the cyber crime station.

Zabeeullah, along with his colleague, had seized the car belonging to the suspect at Devanahalli on December 13 and was brought to the station for inquiry. He allegedly later stole the bag containing cash and other valuables.

The suspect, who later secured anticipatory bail, appeared before the police and, upon checking his seized car, found the cash bag missing.

Following the complaint, the police recovered the cash and charged Zabeeullah with theft and criminal breach of trust.
