The number of devotees visiting the Hasanamba temple in Hassan crossed 1.5 lakh on Saturday (October 11, 2025). Hundreds of people stood in serpentine queues for long, forcing the authorities to alter the time table.

As per the earlier schedule, the temple was supposed to be closed between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Sunday (October 12, 2025), to allow for routine rituals. However, the authorities kept the temple open for devotees through the night.

By 9 p.m. on October 11, more than 1.2 lakh people had visited the temple and received ‘darshana’ of the deity on the day. By 11 p.m., the number of devotees on the general queue had swelled further.

Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda, who is also minister in-charge of Hassan district, released a video statement assuring the devotees that everyone would get darshana. “We have put up serpentine barricades for about 5.5 km. Hundreds of people are standing in queues beyond the barricades. A record number of people are in queue, beyond our expectations. Considering the long lines, the administration has decided to allow ‘darshana’ from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m.,” he said.
