Haryana Congress panel meets to chalk out strategy on SIR

Haryana Pradesh Congress party’s action and monitoring committee, set up to keep a tab on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) held a meeting here to chalk out a broad organisational strategy.

The meeting was attended by HPCC president Rao Narendra Singh, former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, among other party leaders.

Ahead of the SIR, which will begin in Haryana on June 15, the Congress party assigned organisational responsibilities to leaders and workers from the district level down to the booth level.

Mr. Hooda, talking to media persons, said “Every party worker would carry out their responsibilities with full seriousness and dedication to safeguard voters’ rights. In a democracy, the real battle is fought only at the grassroots level. To thwart dangerous conspiracies against democracy, our BLA-1 workers will have to step into the field with full courage and caution. The party would remain fully vigilant regarding any irregularities, negligence, or discrepancies in the voter lists,” he said.

A training camp was held for all District Congress Committee presidents and block-level agent representatives from all 90 Assembly constituencies. “During the training program, detailed guidance was given on maintaining electoral rolls at the booth level, adding new voters, correcting errors, updating records of deceased or shifted voters and both online and offline procedures,” he added.

Following the announcement of SIR in Haryana, the Congress party constituted its ‘Action and Monitoring Committee’ to oversee a fair, transparent and seamless revision process throughout the State.
