The Siddagiri Sansthan mutt at Kaneri in Kolhapur in Maharashtra will host ‘Karagi Mahakumbh’, an all-India handicraft exhibition and fair from March 31 to April 4.
The event is being held in collaboration with the Maharashtra Tourism Ministry. It will provide an opportunity to artists and handicrafts persons to showcase their skills. Their products will be on sale.
Over 200 art experts and artists from 17 States will participate, Varsha Patil, convenor of the organising committee, told reporters in Belagavi on March 26.
Yashovardhan Baramatikar, Executive Director of the mutt, said that terracotta, clay ornaments and toys, tanning wood art, bamboo products, leather industry, embroidery art from different States, Pinguli painting, various arts and crafts of tribal communities, traditional dolls, symbolic historical idols, sculpture, glass art and various types of traditional clothes will be displayed at the event. He said that the event is being organised to provide a platform at the national level to local handicraft artists of various States.
