In a major push for urban development across Telangana, the State government has sanctioned a massive amount of ₹ 2,780 crore for civic infrastructure works in 138 municipalities and municipal corporations.

Orders to this effect have been issued following the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Under the initiative, a total of 2,432 development works have been approved. The Chief Minister instructed officials to issue tenders and commence works immediately, with a deadline of March 2026 for completion of all approved projects.

The funds have been sanctioned as part of the ‘Telangana Rising Vision 2027.’ The CM emphasised that the projects must cater to the growing population and in line with this vision, the government approved the works based on proposals submitted by the Municipal Administration department.

Funding will be drawn from both the State Budget’s Urban Development allocations and the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF).

As per the allocation pattern, newly formed municipalities will receive ₹15 crore each, municipalities that include merged gram panchayats will get ₹20 crore each, older municipalities will be allotted ₹15 crore each and the newly created municipal corporations will receive ₹30 crore each.

The Municipal Administration department has also issued detailed guidelines on priority areas for expenditure. The sanctioned funds are to be utilised for works such as, development of merged areas in municipalities, construction of internal roads, building stormwater and underground drainage systems, improvement of major junctions, pollution control in lakes and tanks, provision of basic amenities in double-bedroom housing colonies among others.
