Government doctors in Palakkad district observed a black day on Wednesday in protest against the suspension of two junior doctors at Government District Hospital here in connection with an alleged medical mismanagement that ultimately led to amputating the hand of a nine-year-old girl.

The Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) asserted that the doctors were not responsible for the rare condition that led to the amputation of the girl’s hand.

Government doctors attended duty by wearing black badges at all hospitals across the district. They threatened to intensify their protest if the government did not withdraw the suspension.

The KGMOA also protested against the attack on a doctor at Government Taluk Hospital, Thamarassery.
