A.P. Mahila Commission member S.K. Rokhaya Begum said that the State government is committed to providing security to women.

Ms. Begum on Monday visited a private engineering college in Chittoor, where a B.Tech third year student attempted to end her life allegedly after the college management denied her to attend laboratory tests. Though the student told the management that she could not submit the records as she went to Chennai along with her family members, the management did not heed and stopped her from attending laboratory tests.

Ms. Begum said that she would interact with the students and faculty and submit a report to the Commission.
